Hi There Sister, and welcome to the swirling of thoughts…
Feeling like I’ve finally landed back on the earth today with that phrase arrived and had to recalibrate inside of my spine.
This phrase that is so ingrained in society and it felt like a tsunami that completely wiped me out internally.
and it is ONE that women fight constantly-
And some even have the audacity to say it out loud as her description
where it is this bizarre pendulum swing if she’s too quiet
Then it swings to:
… she is an ‘outspoken woman’
My dark side swooped in, she’s pretty stealth, let me tell ya a guardian of the unknown and unseen and immediately,
this OUTSPOKEN part began:
‘What in the F_CK did he just say…?
Did I hear this, correctly…?
And where is this place…?
Walk this tightrope very easily…
You might slip off into a crevice
Or simply get lost in Outerspace”
And with this, the topic of today
The power of speaking your mind and being unapologetically yourself.
I know that being outspoken can sometimes rub people the wrong way-
but guess what?
Are we really supposed to sit here passively…
… to silence ourselves…?
We- as women, have done this behavior way too long
- waiting with our hands patiently raised in the Biology classes
only to be dismissed like in kindergarten, at five years old.
Let's face it, it takes guts to say what's on your mind.
Whether it's in the boardroom, the classroom, or even just amongst friends being outspoken can be intimidating, and can feel like sandpaper against the grain
But,
Here's the thing: those who speak their minds are the ones who change the world.
We’re a bit off the beaten path, carving our own trail up the incline.
Look at a snippet of revolutionary women that have paved the way before us
Cleopatra: A prominent figure in ancient Egypt, Cleopatra's political prowess and influence marked her as one of history's most powerful women
Indira Gandhi: Serving as India's Prime Minister, Gandhi displayed strong leadership during challenging times, solidifying her place among influential women in history
Rani Lakshmibai: The Rani of Jhansi played a pivotal role in the Indian Rebellion of 1857, showcasing her strength and leadership
Marie Curie: A pioneering scientist, Curie's groundbreaking work in radioactivity earned her two Nobel Prizes, highlighting her significance in history.
Susan B. Anthony: A key figure in the women's suffrage movement, Anthony's advocacy for women's rights left a lasting impact
NONE of these women chose to stay silent, and neither should you.
So what if people label you as "too much" or "overbearing"...?
Who cares if they think you're too assertive or aggressive…
They’ll come up with a new opinion in 3 days- just watch
seems to be the ongoing subscription.
The fact still remains at the end of the day: You have important things to say
And IF you give your voice away, the song that is lingering inside of you
How many won’t hear the LOVE you have to offer…
to be YOU, in full display…?
Being outspoken. means standing up for what you believe in
and not letting anyone diminish your voice.
Sure, there will be haters.
You’ll get some emails, DM’s/PM’s, and a few emoji eye rolls too…
But you know what…?
Haters are going to hate, no matter what, and if they have that much time on their hands-
Does their perspective truly affect you…?
So why not give them something to really talk about…?
Your boldness and fearlessness will be what sets you apart from the crowd.
People may be taken aback by your outspoken nature, but deep down, here’s the truth
they
secretly
admire
your
confidence
They want the FIRE
they want what you have inside
they want to understand the depths of you…
As women, we're often taught to be polite, and sweet, smile, and nod
even when we disagree.
But why should we conform to society's expectations…?
We have just as much right to be heard as anyone else.
Don't let anyone make you feel small, hiding a place of you, watering you down to appease their cowardly stance, to behave to an expectation from an outdated script, to know your place-
{ ugh, this one hits like a blow dart too…}
And choose to OPT_ OUT-
Respectfully.
So here's to all the outspoken women out here keep speaking up, challenging the status quo, and making noise
This IS YOUR show.
Your voice is powerful, and it deserves to be heard.
and whatever you do-
don't be afraid to ruffle a few feathers along the way.
After all, great change never comes from staying silent.
So speak up, and watch as the world takes notice.
